CHILDREN playing on railway tracks are ‘dicing with death’ claim British Transport Police.

Their warning follows reports that youngsters have congregated near lines during school holidays.

They want to alert pupils across Runcorn and Widnes of the dangers ahead of the Easter break.

Inspector Steve Bromfield said: “Please stay away from the tracks.

“Playing there really is dicing with death.

“By messing around near the tracks you are putting your own lives in d anger as well as the lives of all the staff and passengers on the trains.

“The railway is a dangerous environment with high speed trains and electric currents.”
