VISITORS to Widnes Market hit the beach despite being miles from the sea.
Halton Council and traders teamed up for the second Widnes on Sea event.
Children enjoyed a funfair and donkey rides, Punch and Judy, a sand pit and Victorian helterskelter.
Debbie Hankin, deputy chairman of the Market Traders committee, said: “From the first year we introduced this event we knew it was a winner.
“Children and parents really enjoy the fact that they can get free funfair rides and face painting.”
- Revellers descended on Runcorn’s Phoenix Park on Friday for the annual Party in the Park.
More than 6,000 people enjoyed seaside-themed entertainment including donkey rides, sand pits, face painting, a surf simulator and beach volleyball.
