A COLLABORATION between a London director and North Walian actors will burst into life for the first time in Colwyn Bay next month.

Ruffled Feathers Productions bring together Antony Law with Colwyn Bay panto stalwart Libby Edwards and Sarah Dixon for the Welsh première of I Want That Hair at The SPYCE Centre, Colwyn Bay on Tuesday, November 5 and Wednesday 6 at 7.30pm.

Set in a fading hairdressers, in a town somewhere in northern England, ‘I Want That Hair’ is a hilarious warts-and-all look at what happens between the chit-chat, the wash, the blow dry and the curling, in a local salon.

This play cleverly explores the lives and friendship of the two women who work there,. Dixon's salon owner, Bex who is ‘fifty-five’, fed-up and rushed off her feet and Heidi – played by Edwards - her plain speaking, fashion-conscious, younger assistant.

In a joint statement, Edwards and Dixon said: “We’re thrilled to be working with director Antony Law on our first production together on the Welsh première of I Want That Hair.”

As the new upmarket hairdressers across the road poaches their client base, offering added extras - cappuccinos, lattes, head massages and facials - Bex and Heidi fill their increasingly empty ‘I Want That Hair’ salon with conversations, covering anything from family life, ambitions, the dread of getting old, to discussing the traits of everyone who comes in to get their hair done.

So, whether you’re a person who rushes to the salon at the first sign of split ends and relishes your time there or dreads the thought of being asked where you’re going for your holidays this year, catch I Want That Hair before it embarks on a UK theatre tour in 2020.
