Clint Eastwood got the 85th birthday present worthy of a true gangster – a mosaic made up of thousands of bullet cases.
The portrait was created by Manchester artist Ed Chapman and contains almost 10,000 used cartridges. It features the actor and director in his title role of the 1971 film Dirty Harry, and it looks pretty bloody cool.
If you’ve got £10,000 knocking about, the mosaic is up for grabs , although there has already been interest from another buyer.
Four years ago Chapman created a portrait of Jimi Hendrix which sold at a charity auction for a mosaic world record of £23,000.
He said: “I have always been a fan of Clint Eastwood and Dirty Harry is probably my favourite film of his among so many great movies.
“I had to go into a sort of trance to keep focused on his portrait and I am delighted with the results.”
Clint Eastwood will celebrate his 85th birthday on May 31.
