To the disappointment of many, Katie Hopkins won’t be locked up behind bars any time soon.
The loud-mouth Sun columnist offended when she made controversial comments about Pauline Cafferkey from Lankashire, an aid worker who contracted Ebola while volunteering for Save The Children.
Hopkins wrote: “Glaswegian Ebola patient moved to London’s Royal Free Hospital. Not so independent when it matters most are we jocksville?”
A follow up tweet read: “Little sweaty jocks, sending us Ebola bombs in the form of sweaty Glaswegians just isn’t cricket.”
Within hours of her offending tweet, an online petition was launched for Hopkins to be arrested, and Police Scotland received a series of complaints.
Over 28,000 people signed the petition calling for action over the ‘racist tweets” but Police Scotland has said she will face no charges.
A force spokesman said: “An investigation has been carried out and on this occasion no criminality has been established.”
