Liam Gallagher and ex-wife Nicole Appleton in court tussle over money

Judge Martin O’Dwyer was analysing evidence at a private hearing in the Central Family Court in London.

Liam, who was a member of the band Oasis, and Nicole, a singer with the group All Saints, made no comment when they arrived at court.

Another, more senior, judge has placed limits on what can be reported about the litigation.

Mr Justice Mostyn said the public could be told that the pair were involved in a dispute over money but little more. He is due to make a ruling on what other detail can be revealed in the near future.

The case was listed under the name Appleton at the Central Family Court in London.

Another judge had drawn the couple’s six-year marriage to a close more than a year ago.

District Judge Anne Aitken granted the couple a decree nisi at a hearing in the same court in April 2014.

The 42-year-old rocker and Nicole, 40, had married on Valentine’s Day 2008 and lived in Hampstead, north London.

Among the documents made public after Judge Aitken granted a decree nisi last year was a statement signed by Nicole in which she said Liam had “admitted adultery to me prior to it becoming publicised in national newspapers”. Nicole said she had learned of the adultery in July 2013.

Paperwork showed that Liam replied “yes” when asked if he admitted the alleged adultery – and he said he did not intend to defend the case.

In the decree nisi document, Judge Aitken held that Nicole had “sufficiently proved” the contents of her petition and was “entitled to a decree of divorce, the marriage having irretrievably broken down”.
