A PUNK rock band from the late 70s is making a comeback in Runcorn.

The Jam, featuring former bass vocalist Bruce Foxton and guitar vocalist Russell Hastings will be performing at The Brindley on Monday, November 21.

The pair will be joined on stage by pianist Tom Heel as part of the That’s Entertainment Acoustic Tour.

The show will feature a selection of songs from The Jam’s extensive back catalogue as well as handing over the microphone to the audience for a question and answer session.

The Jam were the sound of the British youth in the late 70s and this intimate show is a rare opportunity to hear those songs in this stripped down way.

Bruce said: "We played some acoustic shows last year and it was a revelation how well the songs work acoustically.

“It’s a testament to a good song that they have stood the test of time and don’t need a full band and big production in order to work so well.”

Audiences can expect to hear classics such as Down In The Tube Station At Midnight, Going Underground, Town Called Malice and The Modern World as well as favourites including Strange Town, When You’re Young and Start.

The Jam exploded onto the punk scene in 1977 with their debut single In The City and released their third album in 1978 All Mod Cons.

Bruce Foxton’s new album Smash The Clock, released in May, was co-written with Russell Hastings and featured guest appearances from Paul Weller, Wilko Johnson and Paul Jones.

The album debuted in the UK Top 40 chart and was recorded at Paul Weller’s Black Barn studios.

Tickets priced £20 are available online from thebrindley.org.uk and the box office on 0151 907 8360.
