ST HELENS amateurs Thatto Heath Crusaders will take centre stage today when they host Championship outfit Dewsbury Rams in the Challenge Cup.

It is a huge day for the Crusaders, whose NWML team are also in action in the BARLA National Cup final playing West Hull at Hunslet.

The Challenge Cup game at Close Street, which will be televised and streamed on BBC sport, kicks off at 3pm.

The National Conference League Premier Division side have played in all rounds of this year’s competition, defeating Stanningley, Leigh Miners Rangers, Rochdale Mayfield before knocking out League 1’s North Wales Crusaders to reach the Fifth Round, a feat not achieved by an amateur club since 2016 when Lock Lane progressed to the same position.

The clubs have agreed to peg the prices for the tie to the same as last time, and a four-figure crowd is anticipated.
