HIGHWAYS ENGLAND COMPANY LIMITED ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14 THE M62 MOTORWAY (JUNCTIONS 9 TO 11 CROFT INTERCHANGE AND SLIP ROADS) AND M6 (LINK ROADS) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2016

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (Company No. 09346363) has made an Order on the M62 and M6 Motorways in the Borough of Warrington in the County of Cheshire to enable the construction of new gantries, removal of old and installation of new variable message signs, installation of controlled motorway operation equipment, traffic signals, traffic detector loops, ducting, communications and power cabling, power provision, controllers, static signing, and enforcement cameras; to be carried out in safety. The Order will revoke and replace the Highways England Order 2016 entitled The M62 Motorway (Junctions 9 to 11 Croft Interchange and Slip Roads) and M6 (Link Roads) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2016, which came into force on 18 November 2016.

(a) The Order will impose a 50 mph speed restriction on the following sections of the motorway:-



(i) the M6 southbound carriageway from the first point where the entry slip road at junction 22 joins the carriageway, to the centreline of the A574 Birchwood Way overbridge;



(ii) the M6 northbound carriageway from the centreline of the A574 Birchwood Way overbridge, to the last point where the exit slip road at junction 22 leaves the carriageway;



(iii) the M62 east bound carriageway from the last point where the junction 9 exit slip road leaves the carriageway, to the first point where the junction



11 entry slip road joins the carriageway;

(iv) the M62 westbound carriageway from the last point where the junction 11 exit slip road leaves the carriageway, to the first point where the entry slip road at junction 9 joins the carriageway;



(v) the M62 east bound entry slip road at junction 9;



(vi) the M6 junction 21A southbound to M62 eastbound link road;



(vii) the M6 junction 21A southbound to M62 westbound link road;



(viii)the M6 junction 21A northbound to M62 eastbound link road;

(ix) the M6 junction 21A northbound to M62 westbound link road;



(x) the M62 junction 10 eastbound to the M6 northbound / southbound link road;



(xi) the M62 junction 10 westbound to the M6 northbound/southbound link road;



(xii) the M62 eastbound exit and entry slip roads at junction 11;



(xiii)the M62 westbound entry slip road at junction 11; (xiv)the M62 westbound exit and entry slip roads at junction 9.

(b) The Order will ban all traffic from the following:



(i) the M62 eastbound carriageway as described in (a) iii above;



(ii) the M62 westbound carriageway from the last point where the junction 10 exit slip road leaves the carriageway, to the first point where the junction 9 entry slip road joins the carriageway;



(iii) the M62 eastbound carriageway from the last point where the junction 9 exit slip road leaves the carriageway, to the first point where the M6 northbound junction 21A to M62 eastbound link road joins the M62 eastbound carriageway;



(iv) the M62 eastbound carriageway from the last point where the junction 10 exit slip road leaves the carriageway, to the first point where the junction 11 entry slip road joins the carriageway;



(v) the M62 westbound carriageway from the last point where the junction 10 exit slip road leaves the carriageway, to the first point where the M6 northbound junction 21A to M62 westbound link road joins the M62 westbound carriageway;



(vi) the M62 eastbound entry slip road as described at (a) v;



(vii) the M62 eastbound junction 10 to the M6 northbound/ southbound link road as described in (a) x above;



(vii i) the M62 westbound junction 10 to the M6 northbound/ southbound link road as described in (a) (xi) above;

(ix) the M6 junction 21A northbound to M62 eastbound link road as described in (a) viii above;



(x) the M6 junction 21A southbound to M62 eastbound link road as described in (a) vi above;



(xi) the M6 junction 21A southbound link road as described in (a) vii above;



(xii) the M6 junction 21A northbound link road as described in (a) ix above;



(xiii)the M62 westbound exit slip road at junction 9 as

described in (a) xiii above; (xiv)the M62 eastbound exit slip road at junction 11 as

described in (a) xi above. Restrictions (a) are expected to take place during a continuous period starting at 0001 hours on Thursday 5 January 2017 and ending at 2359 hours on Friday 4 August 2017. However, work may start and continue beyond these dates until completed. Prohibitions (b) are expected to take place overnight between 2200 hours and 0500 hours (continuing to 0700 hours on Saturday and Sunday mornings) during a period starting on Thursday 5 January 2017 and ending on Friday 4 August 2017. However, works may start and continue between the same times on subsequent nights or continue until completed. Diversions routes via alternative junctions of the M62, M6, and local roads will be well signed. The restrictions will not apply to emergency services or special-forces vehicles, and the prohibitions will not apply to emergency services, works, traffic officer, or winter maintenance vehicles. The prohibitions and restrictions will only apply during such times and to such extent as will be indicated by traffic signs.
