Council Tax premium for unoccupied and substantially unfurnished dwellings
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that pursuant to section 11B of the Local Government Finance Act 1992 (as amended), St Helens Council on 4 March 2020 did determine, In respect of the whole of Its area, that:
A Council Tax premium of 200% (a 300% charge) will be applied to unoccupied and substantially unfurnished dwellings which have been empty for five years or more with effect from 1 April 2020.

A Council Tax premium of 300% (a 400% charge) will be applied to unoccupied and substantially unfurnished dwellings which have been empty for ten years or more with effect from 1 April 2021.

Periods of occupation of less than six weeks are excluded when determining the overall period a dwelling is unoccupied and substantially unfurnished.
