Was Lib Deb councillor Mike Hodgkinson speaking for all the other Lib Dem councillors when he defended the coalition Government’s plans to axe the Building Schools for the Future programme in Halton?

It is common knowledge that Clr Bob Bryant intends to leave the Liberal Democrat Party and stand in the local elections as an independent. He will be joined at least by two other local Lib Dem councillors. They are now trying to distance themselves from the decisions of the ConDem Government and the impact it is beginning to have on Halton.

They are fully aware, especially when the massive spending cuts are announced in October, they have no chance of being re-elected.

This confirms what we already know. The Lib Dems are a party of unprincipled opportunists. They will do whatever it takes to cling on to their council seats.
