I have the answer to all our problems regarding Government spending cuts – abolish our local council.
How do I reach this decision? By living in Halton.
Not so long ago an application was received by the council to open a chip shop in Ascot Avenue. The council duly notified residents and asked for any objections.
The response was overwhelming and in line with the majority of residents the application was denied.
One would therefore think that public funds had been used wisely until we learn that following an appeal, of which no resident was notified, the decision has been overturned.
What is the point? Abolish the council and use our money where it will be appreciated. How can we restore the status quo to decision-making at local levels?
