The Government is ending the free swimming lessons for over 60s this month.
Merseyrail is continuing the free travel within their area for over 60s in spite of the Government changing the age to over 65. This is travel by bus, train and boat.
If Merseyrail can cover such a concession, I am asking those interested to write to their local councillor suggesting that Halton Council give a concession to the over 60s for free swimming at certain times during the day, namely 7am, noon and 3pm when the schools are not using the baths and they are generally quite empty.
They want the elderly to keep fit, yet take away a very valuable concession to keeping fit.
I thank all who support this proposal by lobbying the council.
