Stuck in a jam hinders my shopping

I DESPAIR of shopping in Widnes on a Saturday!

It took me one hour and 15 minutes to drive two miles from my home to buy a few bits in Widnes Market last weekend. And that’s because of the traffic. It is horrendous at Morrisons, Asda, the market, and getting past Morrisons station.

I suppose on the one hand we should say ‘well done’ to the local authority for making the area so popular, but that’s no good for people like me. I spend most of my working hours sat in traffic jams going to and from the office – I haven’t got a choice in that.

But at the weekend, being stuck in a queue is the last thing I want.

It’s only going to get worse when the new Marks & Spencer opens. If the rumours of a supermarket taking over B&Q are true God help us.
