WITH regards to the article in the World, August 20, ‘Concern over loss of vital hospital unit’, I would like to suggest a solution to this problem.

Why not make use of the redundant NHS Treatment Centre at the rear of Halton Hospital. It would be an ideal location for a heart unit including angioplasty procedures to be carried out in Runcorn and Widnes, including Frodsham, Helsby and surrounding areas. This would be great for us as we have to travel to Broadgreen Hospital in Liverpool. It is very difficult for people in our area (who have no car) to get to Broadgreen, so having a cardiac unit here in our locality would be a blessing.
