I AM appalled at the way patients have been treated over the sudden suspension of spinal surgery at Halton Hospital.

One of my relatives has regular spinal injections and needs them to keep her in work.

It is worrying enough to undergo this procedure without the added stress of not knowing if she can continue with this treatment.

Patients are warned of the risk of nerve damage and have to sign consent forms before they have the injection.

I understand that investigations have to be made following the death of two patients and two other serious incidents.

However to leave patients who rely on spinal injections in such a worrying position is totally unacceptable.

Patients have built up a bond of trust with their consultants over the years.

They now face uncertainty and insecurity.

Please let them know as soon as possible what alternative options are available for their treatment.
