IN response to the letter regarding pensions in last week’s World, the writer went to a lot of trouble to work out the costings.
Unfortunately one thing they didn’t realise was that National Insurance contributions are also used for the NHS and payments of benefits, including maternity child benefit and sickness benefits.
Taking away those costings, perhaps the retirement pension would be better reinvented as retirement benefit.
