GO into any supermarket in Widnes and you will see stacks of Easter eggs piled up.

Greedy retailers are battling to see who can sell the most.

In Morrisons, Tesco and Asda they are trying to entice us to buy in bulk with countless special offers. I have seen three for £10, two for £5 and buy one, get one free.

Some work out cheaper than a bar of chocolate at £1.

I saw one woman pushing a trolley round Asda in Widnes that was stacked high with Easter eggs.

I am not being a killjoy but does no-one give a thought to the damage all this chocolate will do to our health?

Not to mention the appalling state of children’s rotting teeth across Runcorn and Widnes.

Many youngsters have to go to hospital to have their teeth taken out before they even start school.

I know children who get no less than 16 eggs at Easter!

I am all for letting youngsters have a treat and enjoy chocolate over Easter.

But it is about time our supermarkets took responsibility and organised their Easter marketing campaign with a bit more thought and consideration.
