IN regards to the proposed plans to lay double yellow lines on Park Road, my message to members of Runcorn Model Boat Club is to ignore the markings and continue parking there.

I say this as I have double yellow lines outside my house on Weston Road yet motorists still insist on parking opposite my drive, making it impossible to get in and out.

If you are concerned about reprimands from the authorities, please take my advice and don’t worry.

I have been in touch with the police regarding the cars parked opposite my drive and they have not treated my complaints with any urgency at all.

The other day there were six cars parked on the lines outside my house and when I called the police I was told that they wouldn’t be able to come out until the following day, by which time the cars would have gone.

I have also seen police drive past cars parked on the double yellow lines and just turn a blind eye to them.

In my opinion our council should put ratepayers’ money to better use – for example by making repairs to roads – rather than causing unnecessary complications to members of the boat club, some of whom may have mobility issues.

Surely after spending thousands of pounds on the park and lake our council does not want to drive people away due to there not being anywhere to park.

Hopefully the council will reconsider its plans and use council tax payers’ money for a more beneficial purpose.
