REGARDING primary schools’ Key Stage 2 results in December.
It is true that attainment at our school is low but the key measure for school performance now is progress, which is far more sensible.
If a child enters school with very low ability then they are always likely to leave the school below average.
Progress measures will show that a child has really benefited from their time at school and show how much extra a school has added to that child.
We have a lot of children with special needs and designated as ‘disadvantaged’.
As a result they are unlikely to attain the same level as many children, but they do make very good progress.
Progress for last year was well above the floor standards set by the Government and we were in fact the best school in Runcorn for maths progress.
