I WISH to appeal to people to be a little more considerate to others when they are out and about in town.

I called into the Post Office in Church Street to send a recorded letter.

There were a group of men standing in the lobby and as I struggled to walk past them a terrible thing happened.

I stumbled as one of the men’s walking sticks collided with my left leg.

I couldn’t find my feet and fell heavily to the floor.

I was in so much pain.

After being examined in hospital, doctors diagnosed a ruptured shoulder.

Specialists say I don’t need surgery as the injury will heal itself in time.

I am a retired teacher and this unfortunate incident has caused me a lot of discomfort and inconvenience.

I fell on October 28 and am still suffering from the consequences.

I am unable to drive, I still have pain in my arm and can’t use it and I have to have carers in the morning and evening.

I have lost my independence and it has knocked my confidence.

It was an accident but is a lesson to everybody to be a bit more aware of those around you.
