WHAT a wonderful gesture it was to see Cheshire Police booking motorists for illegal parking outside the Royal Mail office as they attempted to collect their parcels from Crown Gate, East Lane, Runcorn, on Saturday afternoon.
As we all know, this is an accident blackspot like no other.
At this festive time it clearly shows how compassionate and important it is to book motorists nipping into the Royal Mail office to collect their parcels.
Too often police are criticised unfairly in the course of their duties for not tackling real crime.
But this time it beggars belief as to the appropriate nature and justification of their actions.
I say this is utterly pathetic and shameful behaviour from Runcorn police, and I speak as someone who has family in the force.
