I AM counting the days until the new bridge opens and the labyrinth of roadworks is a thing of the past.
I can cope with visiting friends and delivery drivers complaining to me about the nightmares they have had trying to get to my home.
But getting lost in my own town – where I have lived all my life – is a bridge too far.
Driving home to Brookvale from Runcorn old town using expressways I used to know like the back of my hand, I had no idea where I was for a while.
It turned out that an unfamiliar expressway road had boomeranged me into completely the wrong direction, heading towards Widnes.
It seems that every time you hit the roads in Runcorn and Widnes at the moment you have to relearn your way home due to roads closing and new ones opening.
It puts you off going out.
