FOLLOWING June’s EU referendum, Prime Minister Theresa May has announced she is about to repeal the 1972 European Communities Act, which will formerly begin the process of leaving the EU.

This will be followed by invoking article 50 of the Treaty of Lisbon.

But not until next March.

In the six months beforehand many threats prevail, not least from her own party, with many ‘remain’ MPs and lords threatening to vote against the wishes of 17.4 million voters in an attempt to kill off the referendum results by delaying it and ignoring democracy.

While the majority of grass route Tory members voted ‘Brexit’, more than two-thirds of their MPs think Britain should remain in the EU.

There are also several legal challenges afoot to block us from leaving, and let us not forget that Mrs May as home secretary allowed a record number of immigrants into the country and campaigned to remain in the EU.

We are a long way from what the majority voted for on June 23 and UKIP’s job is far from over.

Labour has become an ineffective opposition and, like the Lib Dems, wants Britain to remain shackled to the EU.

For more than 23 years UKIP has been the only political party to have campaigned for Britain to leave the EU and we must ensure that Brexit happens and hold the Government to account if any part of it is watered down and is not what the people voted for.
