ALONG with my fellow residents I wish to express my disappointment and concern over a decision by Halton Council to create a new children’s park in Beechwood.
We have no problems whatsoever with providing a play area for children but this is in the wrong place.
The proposed site is between St Mark’s Church and Goldcrest Close.
It is on Beechwood Avenue, which is a main road with more traffic than usual being diverted now due to the Mersey Gateway roadworks.
It is right beside Hill View Primary School, which is horrendous when the children start and finish with parents double parking all along Beechwood Avenue.
It is also next to two bus stops.
We feel this park is being put in a very dangerous spot. It is just an accident waiting to happen.
Even though they plan to put up a 1.2-metre railing, we are worried about children’s safety.
We are also concerned that the park could attract youths and hooligans in the evenings.
We think it would be better to make the school car park bigger rather than put a park on this land.
We are annoyed that councillors don’t seem to have taken on board our concerns.
