WHY do supermarkets stack items on such high shelves?

For someone like me who is barely 5ft tall it is a constant struggle trying to reach things.

Even food in the fridges is often so high up it is really difficult to get hold of.

There never seems to be a shop assistant around to help and I don’t like approaching strangers.

It’s embarrassing to have to ask a man to reach up and help.

More often than not the item is the last one left and tucked right at the back of the shelf.

I have perched precariously on a shelf and tried to stretch up and grab that last pint of milk.

After several failed attempts you find yourself determined to get it the next time.

There must be loads of other shoppers who share my predicament.

How do the elderly manage?

What is the answer?

Perhaps a stick with a hook could be left for us tichy shoppers?

Or a little footstool?

Anyone got any other ideas?
