I WAS pleased to read in the World that the empty Homebase store in Runcorn is being taken over, but disappointed that it is to become yet another B&M.
We already have far too many cheap discount stores in Halton.
Runcorn desperately needs to be regenerated but we should aim higher.
It will never be a bustling town centre like it was years ago but it has great potential.
It has three waterways, the Bridgewater Canal, Manchester Ship Canal and River Mersey.
Water creates a great ambience for restaurants.
Work is due to begin soon to build a pub and coffee shop on the old Crosville site.
This could be the start of something really exciting.
Perhaps we could entice more specialist shops like a book shop, reflecting hobbies and leisure activities?
