I AM thrilled to see the butterfly house reopening for the summer in Victoria Park.

I would like to congratulate the dedicated team of volunteers who have worked so hard to secure funding for this fantastic project.

We are lucky in Halton to have so many well cared for green open spaces.

It is good to see improvements at Runcorn Hill Park.

A new pavilion is due to open there shortly with toilet facilities and a cafe, like the one in Widnes.

More than 10,000 visitors came to see the butterflies last year.

But more volunteers are needed to help to look after it and keep it open.

I am sure there must be plenty of people who could give up a few hours to help.

It is a great educational resource for our children to be able to see exotic butterflies from all over the world.

I know many people who have travelled from neighbouring areas in Warrington and St Helens to bring their families along.

I feel proud that attractions like this are helping to put Halton on the map.
