I WISH to highlight building proposals in Pine Road and Grangeway, one of last green spaces in the area. Residents are incensed by plans to build houses and threestorey flats.

Several of us attended a proposal meeting at the Grangeway Centre.

To our horror, the plans are for 21 three-storey flats facing on to Grangeway, right opposite the pensioners’ bungalows.

We were all opposed to any building on the swathe of green but the general consensus now is that houses would be preferable to 21 three-storey flats with parking spaces at the rear.

This will add to the deprivation of the area after living with an open green space. Three trees are to be torn down, albeit with promises of restoring some planting.

Halton Council is at present promoting health and wellbeing.

This building plot would not be conducive to that ethic.

Apart from the flats being light limiting there would be the extra noise from traffic and such a large population of people in such a small area.

It is heartbreaking for everyone, especially those who have bought their properties as this will reduce the values considerably.
