I FEEL I must raise my concern over the dangers of mobility scooters.
You would expect disabled people who ride them to treat them with respect and move along at a gentle pace.
Not in Widnes.
They hurtle round the shops and along the pavements at an incredible speed.
And these vehicles don’t make any noise.
You can easily be caught unawares.
I have lost count of the number of times they have clipped me on the ankles.
Now if I see one coming I jump out of the way.
Do these people think they have the right to bulldoze their way through the town?
Or perhaps they are reliving a childhood passion to become a racing driver?
My plea to them is to slow down.
You could cause a serious accident if you knock over a child or an elderly person.
I think these mobility scooters are a great invention to give disabled people independence.
But they need to be treated with respect.
