THE letter about litter in the World (April 8) and the council’s response was interesting.
When I went on a ‘ban the bomb’ demonstration outside Molesworth, years ago, I was detained by police for blowing my nose.
I didn’t litter the base by dropping my tissue, but I had committed the terrible crime of blowing my nose six feet from the fence.
Like Halton Council, the police were carrying out a zero tolerance to crimes like mine.
The cruise nuclear missiles have gone, but recently the Government still introduced more crimes near military bases.
One of these is picking flowers near the fence and another is handing out leaflets.
I think this crime will not be zero tolerance in the run-up to the General Election. I have voted Labour for 45 years and will again.
