I GOT lost in the Mersey Gateway roadworks on my way to work in Runcorn and pulled over on the expressway to let colleagues know I was delayed.
My journey usually takes 20 minutes but I had been driving for 40 minutes and was completely lost.
I work with adults with special needs in Palacefields and needed to meet the morning bus.
A police car pulled alongside me. I realised I shouldn’t have stopped on the hard shoulder.
When I told them the nature of my work and was so anxious, they escorted me.
I made it two minutes ahead of the bus.
I didn’t get to thank the two police officers but am so grateful they helped.
