I WOULD like to write a letter of complaint regarding the Asda store in Runcorn.

I want to make others aware of a new policy they have introduced regarding the removal of motorbike helmets while fuelling up a bike.

There are no signs up regarding this policy.

Having contacted Asda, they say it’s for my safety in case I have an accident.

Should the helmet not be on my head in case I have an accident?

If we are to remove these safety devices to help prevent us from having an accident, where are we to put them?

My helmet cost £200 and I don’t want it falling to the floor rendering it useless, nor do I want it to sit in the dregs of diesel all over the floor causing more potential for harm.

I think the real reason Asda wants me to take of my helmet is to try to capture people stealing fuel.

I have spoken to a police officer and he is unaware of any ‘drive off ’ incidents recently.

I refused to remove my helmet on the grounds of safety and was eventually dispensed fuel when the queue became greater than the need to enforce the policy.
