RUNCORN, in common with many other small towns in the north west, suffers from a lack of investment.
Therefore when a developer wants to transform the Department of Employment eyesore in East Lane, it is quite unacceptable for councillors Lea and Lowe to object because of the shortage of parking space and unspecified transport problems.
What problems?
Why do they not tell us what they are?
Did they ask the developers to adjust their parking proposals?
Will we see the full minutes of the meeting that made this decision?
We need to know why this apparently strange decision was made.
Until we know more we can only assume that the councillors have let slip an opportunity to replace a very hazardous building with homes for people who want to move into the town.
