LAST year was a good year for Remembrance. For all that sad memories are brought to mind, honouring those who gave so much for our freedom has, somehow, lifted the spirit of the nation.

Eric Ridding brought to mind the freedoms handed down to us all, Guardian, December 31, ‘Worst Journey was one of the best for me’.

My generation and the generations that followed have reneged on those freedoms, handed down to us at such cost.

David Cameron can do nothing without Angela Merkel’s agreement as she gives the orders; our MPs have no authority in Westminster.

We allow the Treasury to shovel more and more billions into Brussels, while constantly trying to rescue the nation feeding thousands of our compatriots through food banks, with so many families are on the bread line and poorly housed, their sons having to stand in the job queues behind so many who have jumped our borders.

The only thing I can do is to stand up for my nation again, establish our own laws, remove the burden of massive regulations imposed upon all industry and commerce and reduce our taxes; revitalise our economy, and call our lazy politicians to account, and remind them that they work for us, and not for that hateful bureaucracy in Brussels.

I hold my head high in supporting the UK Independence Party, anxious to freely re-engage with our Commonwealth, without the barriers imposed on us by the EU.
