I AM really concerned by the way so many parents are feeding their young children with junk.

Walk round any supermarket and you will see toddlers being given crisps, sweets or sticky juices.

It seems anything can be stuffed in their faces to keep them quiet.

Why not give them a piece of fruit, some raisins or a bottle of water?

Fruit is not expensive. If you think of the health problems these children could face in the future it is a small price to pay to ensure they lead when they grow up.

More worryingly, if you peer into trolleys all you will see is white sliced bread, tins of beans, microwave dinners and processed meat.

I am appealing to parents to spend a bit of time and cook fresh meals for your children. It can actually work out cheaper if you prepare a curry, stir fry, stew or casserole.

You’ll save money and give your children a much healthier start in life.
