IN response to the letter published in the World regarding discrimination of pensioners in our stop smoking marketing materials, we’d like to thank your reader for his comments.

We acknowledge that our latest Stoptober campaign did not feature any older Halton residents. We recognise that there are many older residents who would be willing and could feature in our advertising campaigns.

The latest Stoptober campaign featured 47-year-old Mark from Widnes who had successfully quit after 30 years by seeking help from our team of advisors.

Over the years we’ve helped thousands of people of all ages from Runcorn and Widnes to stop smoking. We are always happy to feature successful quitters in our marketing.

We have to gain consent first but if there are smokers out there who have quit with our service and want to share their story, we’d be delighted to speak to them.

We are planning new campaigns early in 2015 and would love to hear from people who would like to be featured in the campaign including your reader.

To quit after 50 years is no mean feat and we are sure people would love to hear his story. Evidence shows that smokers are four times more likely to quit using our support service.
