IN a reader’s letter in the Runcorn and Widnes World of August 20, 2014, a resident from Castle Rise, Runcorn claimed it was Halton MP Derek Twigg who applied for and secured the charging order for the publicly-paid-for Silver Jubilee bridge.
This is not correct.
Halton Council applied for the Mersey Gateway tolling/ Silver Jubilee bridge road user charging order. It was submitted to the Secretary of State for Transport and was approved by the government.
