SUNDAY, August 3 was a very proud and poignant day for me with the unveiling of the Todger Jones Statue in the memorial gardens, Runcorn, in memory of our town’s Victoria Cross recipient.

I felt very lucky to have my dream realised with the statue and everything it represents to remember those who have served our country in one way or another only to be forgotten on leaving their respective services.

Much hard work and fundraising went into this and I would like to thank both the original committee and the present committee for their hard work in the last 12 months for the Todger Jones Statue Appeal and the unveiling ceremony.
