I can’t believe that the Mersey Gateway project team has chosen this weekend to close junction 12 on the M56 for Runcorn drivers.
The schools break up this week and families are looking forward to going away on holiday.
It is probably the busiest weekend of the year and many people will be heading to the M56 to start their journey.
Even those not going away might be planning day trips to Chester or North Wales. There are bound to be long delays.
Having a car full of children stuck in traffic in this heat is no joke. Merseylink says it needs to close this roundabout to install a multi-utility trench.
Why couldn’t they do it out of the peak holiday season?
After waiting for 20 years for the second crossing, I am pleased it is finally being built but dreading all the road closures, delays and diversions.
