Thomas Coyle released from Vikings roster

THE re-build for Super League XVIII at the Vikings continues today with news that the club has released Thomas Coyle from its playing roster.

Having previously spent time at Wigan Warriors, Halifax and Oldham, Coyle joined the Vikings ahead of the 2010 campaign and his all-action style and utility value added plenty to the first team squad.

The following season, his consistent performances as the only ever-present, earned him the ‘Players' Player of the Year’ honour and a full-time contract following the clubs successful return to Super League rugby.

Unfortunately, during an U20s game versus Wakefield Trinity Wildcats at the Stobart Stadium in February 2012, the 24-year-old suffered a compound fracture of his left tibia and fibula which ruled him out of contention for the remainder of the campaign.

Commenting on Coyle’s departure, Vikings Head Coach Denis Betts, said: “On behalf of the club and its members and supporters, I would like to thank Thomas for his time, effort and energies spent in a Vikings shirt.

“Whilst doing so, I would also like to wish him the best of luck for his future.”
