YOUNG centre Stefan Marsh has joined Widnes Vikings from Wigan Warriors.
Marsh heads to the Stobart Stadium on a one-year loan deal to link up with Super League’s newest club and former Warriors coach Denis Betts.
Betts, who is a long-term admirer of Marsh, said: “Stefan is an outstanding prospect.
"He has good vision, an outstanding turn of pace and he can certainly handle himself in the defensive department.
“Given he can play in a variety of positions across the back line, he offers us plenty of options and will prove an extremely useful addition to the squad in our first season back in Super League.
“On behalf of the Vikings I’d personally like to thank the chairman of Wigan Warriors Ian Lenagan, plus their head coach Shaun Wane and rugby general manager Kris Radlinski for making this deal possible.”
In 2010, Marsh played three games for the Vikings while on loan from Wigan, making a try-scoring debut in the home defeat to Leigh.
Before returning to his parent club, he followed up his impressive start with a brace of tries in his final game away to Toulouse.
He has since made 12 appearances for the Cherry and Whites, scoring three tries.
Wigan head coach Shaun Wane said: “This is a good opportunity for Stefan to gain some valuable first-team experience in the best competition.
"He will benefit greatly from playing regularly in Super League rather than switching when opportunities occur between first-team rugby and the under 20s.
"Stefan is a young player with great potential and this loan works well for both Wigan and the Widnes Vikings.”
