A TOUGH and close encounter is Widnes’ expectations for Sunday.
Coach Paul Cullen has talked about the potential of the game being decided in the 59th second of the 79th minute.
And if a moment of magic or a piece of class is needed to sway the result Vikings’ way, Cullen is happy he has men in his ranks who can deliver a sucker punch and he highlighted a perfect example.
“It was there in the semi final,” said Cullen “That drop goal from Craig Hall was a serious and major turning point - even more so than the Ben Black knock on.
“Ironically, we did practice drop goals prior to the semi final and Craig Hall was probably the only player on the field who wasn’t drop-goaling.
“I was using scrum halfs, stand offs and full backs and they were banging them over from everywhere.
“But come the hour, Craig Hall volunteered, pushed himself into the middle of the field, demanded the ball and whacked it over.
“It was a massive boost to us.”
