Betts and Cassidy head to Dubai
4:43pm Wednesday 28th November 2012 in Vikings news
VIKINGS boss Denis Betts and assistant Mick Cassidy put their pre-season duties to one side this week – but it is all in a good cause.
The pair flew off to middle east on Monday to play for the Joining Jack team in the Dubai Sevens with a mission to raise awareness of the cruel muscle wasting condition Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
Both Betts and Cassidy played alongside Andy Johnson, whose four-year-old son Jack is suffering from the condition, at Wigan.
It is a star-studded line up featuring former Chemics Martin Offiah and Sean Long, as well as Vikings old boy Gary Connolly.
The team includes dual-code international Jason Robinson, back-to-back Man of Steel winner Paul Sculthorpe and two-time Harry Sunderland winner Chris Joynt.
Meanwhile tickets have gone on sale for Vikings’ festive friendly with neighbours Warrington, which takes place at Stobart Stadium on Boxing Day.
Early Bird tickets are on sale up to and including Sunday, December 9 are priced at adults £10, concessions £8 and juniors £5.
The prices go up then until Christmas Eve and after that point matchday prices of £15 adults, £12 concs and £8 juniors, will apply.
Tickets for the 2013 Squad Night which takes place in the Bridge Suite at the Stobart Stadium on Thursday, December 6 go on general sale on tomorrow.
The night kicks off at 7pm and will see head coach Denis Betts present the players with their first team squad numbers for Super League XVIII.
Following the recent ‘Our Colours' campaign which saw the club asking its Viking Stronghold members to choose the colour scheme for its 2013 home kit - those in attendance will also witness the unveiling of the winning choice.
Stronghold members have until 7pm this evening (Wednesday) to buy tickets for £8 from the new Vikings Superstore within Tesco.
Any remaining tickets will then go on general sale from 11am tomorrow to non-Stronghold members for £12.
