Katie Holmes and daughter Suri have been spotted moving bags, sparking speculation that they are leaving the home they shared with Tom Cruise.

The 33-year-old actress - who has filed for divorce from the Hollywood A-lister - was seen moving some of their belongings from the New York flat they shared to another apartment, reported People.com.

It comes amid rumours that Katie wanted to divorce Tom because she didn't want six-year-old Suri to be brought up as a Scientologist, which the Mission: Impossible star is a believer of.

Meanwhile, the Church of Scientology has denied that they have private investigators in cars following Katie.

Gary Soter, lawyer for the Church, told TMZ.com: "The Church of Scientology is not following Katie or conducting surveillance on her in the wake of her divorce with Tom Cruise."

Former Dawson's Creek star Katie, 33, filed for divorce last week after five years of marriage.

Her attorney Jonathan Wolfe said: "This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family. Katie's primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter's best interest."

A representative for Tom, 49, said: "Kate has filed for divorce and Tom is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children. Please allow them their privacy to work this out."
