BRAD Walker has signed a new three-year deal at Widnes Vikings, committing his future to the club until the end of the 2021 season.

A product of the Vikings’ academy system, Walker has been tipped as one of the most exciting young players in the Super League.

The former England Academy captain has made seven senior appearances for the Vikings since his Super League debut in 2016, following an impressive run within the club’s youth system.

Walker primarily plays as a ball-playing loose forward but has also played at halfback at youth and international level.

Denis Betts, Head Coach of Widnes Vikings, said: “Brad’s development is coming on leaps and bounds, and he’s got a number of games under his belt at first team level to emphasise that progress.

“We have seen a massive improvement in Brad in each year that he has been with us, both mentally and physically.

"He is now starting to look like a player that can cement a place as a regular first team player.

"It’s pleasing that he has committed his future to Widnes Vikings and believes that he can achieve his goals at this club.”

Walker said: “It’s great to sign this new deal. I’ve been here a while now and I’ve loved every minute of my time here.

"The club has some great talent and exciting youngsters coming through, and I want to be a part of what we are building here. Whilst there was interest from elsewhere in the Super League, I was committed to staying here and did not want to go anywhere else.

"I’ve been at Widnes Vikings since I was 16, and the club has been fantastic in supporting my development.

"I can see the club achieving good things in the next few years, and I want to be involved in that future. My aim now is to cement a place in the first team and play regularly, whether that be this year or in the coming seasons.

"Every time I go out on the field with the lads, I always give my all and hopefully I can keep on doing that for the club in the future.”
