WIDNES Vikings game at Wakefield Trinity was abandoned after 27 minutes with the home side leading 2-0 when the officials decided to give up the ghost.
It was hardly an unpredictable outcome with the weather forecast proving spot on.
Snow before the game meant the action that did take place did so on a white blanket with the lines difficult to make out and handling conditions treacherous.
Temperatures dropping below freezing didn’t help either.
When the snow then began to come down in a blizzard, referee Mr Moore had little choice but to halt proceedings.
For the record, a Liam Finn penalty on eight minutes gave Wakefield the lead in what was, as long as it lasted, an evenly fought contest.
The game will be rearranged for a later date.
Wakefield: Grix; Caton-Brown, Lyne, Tupou, Johnstone; Miller, Finn; England, Randell, Huby, Kirmond, Ashurst, Arona. Subs: Hampshire, Pauli, Horo, Hirst.
Widnes: Hanbury; Marsh, Inu, Runciman, Chamberlain; Mellor, Craven; Burke, Heremaia, Houston, Dean, Whitley, Olbison. Subs: Johnstone, Wilde, B Walker, T Chapelhow.
