WIDNES Vikings will have to up their game on Saturday when they travel to face a Wakefield Trinity side that has once again proved to be Super League’s surprise package (6.30pm ko).
Having fared badly at home to Huddersfield last Friday, Denis Betts’ men will need to dig in against third-placed Trinity side who lost for the first time this season on Sunday at Wigan.
Betts expects a tough challenge at a difficult place to play.
He said: “Wakefield are keeping their nerve by winning games and playing how they want to play.
“They seem to find the same kind of team week-in, week-out which is adding to their consistency.”
Chris Chester’s side possess a number of threats, but the blistering pace of wingman Tom Johnstone will need some special attention.
“He is a fantastic player who will bring a big challenge for our wingers at the weekend,” Betts said.
Vikings expect to have Hep Cahill back after he pulled out of the Huddersfield game with tonsillitis late last week.
However, they will be without Jay Chapelhow, who suffered a broken thumb in the Giants clash, and could be sidelined for six weeks.
