WIDNES Vikings winger Paddy Flynn will join Castleford Tigers on loan until the end of the season.

The deal was signed at the end of last week.

Flynn has not started a Super League game during this year’s campaign and Head Coach Denis Betts believes that the player should have the opportunity to play Super League rugby elsewhere: “Paddy needs to be playing regular rugby. Unfortunately for him, all of our wingers have played very well this season.

“We wish Paddy the best of luck for the remainder of the season with the Tigers.”

Flynn’s only appearance of the 2016 campaign was in the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup 5th Round tie against Rochdale Hornets. This will mean that Flynn is cup-tied for the remainder of this competition.

With the news that Alex Gerrard will miss the remainder of the 2016 campaign the Vikings switch their attention to strengthening the forward pack.

Vikings CEO James Rule commented: “With the departure of Danny Tickle earlier in the year and the loss of Alex Gerrard, Denis is keen to strengthen our forward line.

“As always the Club will look to find the right player that not only brings something to the team on the field, but that adds value to our culture and continued development of the group.”
