WIDNES boss Denis Betts was delighted to see his side show their true attacking potential in the 52-16 win over Bradford Bulls on Sunday.

The Vikings played some scintillating rugby as they scored 42 points in the second half.

Before the game, Betts had called on his charges to be fearless in attack and that's what he got after the half-time break.

He said "Once we got two scores ahead there was some relief for the players.

"I was always pretty confident and half-time was a reflection of that because it was a case of 'Let's strip it back and go again. If we get an early score we can really settle into the game'. And that's just exactly how it went.

"I've talked to the players about the pressure and anxiety being the elephant in the room. You want them to play the game not the occasion.

"We're working hard for each other. We've just lacked a little bit of precision and fearlessness in our attack which came out in that second half.

"The talk at half-time was really good from the captain and all our leaders in the group.

"We knew we'd taken lots of energy out of them, the lads could sense it before the break.

"We just had to get them into that place again and having taken so much out of them in the first half with how hard we ran and tackled, they were ready to break.

"The lads were pretty confident and it shone through in the second half. We saw what we've seen on numerous occasions this year as an attacking side.

"I was really pleased to see them enjoy themselves in that way again."
